There is fear. It does not help to deny the fact of fear. Telling ourselves that we will brave it or face it does not help. Our existence is one of fragility. No matter how much we accomplish or endure, fear is ever present.
Perhaps what we can do in its presence is to not look for the objects of our fears to change. When we do this, we might acquire the capability to not hope for its cessation. And when that happens we discover gratitude for any comfort we have.
